Photofacial – IPL
A clear complexion and ageless skin is something everyone wants, yet for many people seems reserved for only the most beautiful people on the red carpet. Even with the most diligent attempts to keep skin clear and fresh, age tends to always grab a hold of us as skin discoloration is almost as certain as, well… death and taxes.
An IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photofacial is a skin-rejuvenation treatment that aids in treating a variety of skin conditions which result in dark lesions, age spots, and other forms of skin discoloration. The treatment takes less than an hour and you may be recommended to have a series of treatments to fully benefit from the process.
As part of your treatment, a pulsing light device is used to deliver a uniformed pattern of energy to targeted area of your skin. This destroys discolored lesions (vascular and pigmented) commonly associated with sun damage, aging, spider veins, rosacea, freckles, and even those wonderful stretch marks we love.
Selective photo thermolysis targets chromophores in the skin which absorb the light energy or heat. This process clears vascular and pigmented lesions by respectively targeting hemoglobin and melanin.
You can expect to see results from the damaged lesions within two weeks for vascular lesions and as little as a couple days for pigmented lesions.
In addition to the conditions mentioned above, photofacial is an excellent opportunity to address the following skin conditions:
- Hyperpigmentation (brown spots)
- Texture problems
- Large, visible pores
- Excessive flushing
- Broken capillaries
